Activities can be grouped in many different ways, but four of the most common groupings are upgrade, renewal, maintenance and operation. There are several definitions for each of these terms, but even if a definition is agreed upon, there are always some activities that fall into the grey area between groups. One way to get around this problem is to define a group not by a written definition, but by explicitly listing all activities that are members of a group. The table below is an attempt to do this.
