Airport Management

Airport Management is the management of an Airport, including the management of; passenger and cargo terminal buildings, ground handling of passengers and baggage, ground access systems, environmental impacts, land-use planning and control, airport capacity and delay, public relations and airport finance.

Many Councils in regional and remote areas are responsible for the management of the local airport or aerodrome.

Challenges

The following asset valuation related issues have been identified as challenges for some councils via the local government collaboration project survey.

  • the cost of running airports, including infrastructure maintenance and operational costs
  • compliance with regulations
  • difficulty in attracting income to airports
