Photo No.014 - Cast Iron Situ Lined Water Pipe
This photo is of a cast iron situ lined pipe in very poor condition. It is a 300mm CISL lead jointed water main that had predominantly carried potable bore water. It was installed in 1938 and replaced in 2008 (70 years)
Failure was due to graphitic corrosion from the aggressive soil environment along the base the main resulting in a longitudinal split in the weakened area.
