AMS Fields

The table below is a checklist of fields that could be included within an asset register. It is hoped the table will serve as a starting point for the development of a common data exchange format for asset management systems.

alt-hierarchy text Use if items are placed in a second hierarchy
area float Use this field to record and items area in square metres. Not all items will have an area.
asset-class text Use this field to record an item's AASB 116 asset class
builder-manufacturer text Use this field to record the manufacturer of an item or the company that built it
carrying-amount currency Use this field to record an items carrying amount (written down value)
comments text a general field for comments about an item
condition integer Use to record an items overall condition
date-built date Use to record the date the item was constructed or purchased
date-entered date Use to record the date that the item was entered into the asset register
depth float Use to record the depth in mm of below ground assets
description text A general field to describe the item
disposal-date date Use to record the date that the asset was disposed.
drawing-id text Use this field to identify a drawing with information about the item - a subdivision plan for example.
end float Use to record the end chainage in metres of a network asset segment
finance-number text Use this field to link to the finance system or fixed asset register
flood-disruption-level float Use to record the AHD level at which flooding would incapacitate the item.
from text Use to describe the starting point of a network asset
geometry text "cylinder", "strip", "slab", "line", etc.
ground-level float Use to record the AHD level of the item in metres
height float use to record the height of items such as box culverts and pavement layers
hierarchy text Use to describe the level of the asset hierarchy that the item belongs to
importance integer A numerical used to rank items in order of importance
item-id integer Should be a unique ID for every item
item-name text The item's name
item-status text Use to record the item's status, e.g. "active", "inactive", "proposed", etc.
item-sub-type text Used to group items for particular reporting requirements. More specific than item-type
item-type text Used to group items for particular reporting requirements.
length float Use this field to record an items length in metres. (not all items will have a length)
locality text Use this field to record the locality/suburb/township in which the item is located.
material text Use to specify the material that an item is composed of
municipality text will make it easy for different councils to combine and compare their data
owner text Use to describe the section responsible for the item
parent-asset text If the item is part of a larger asset like a building record the name of the parent asset in this field
parent-facility text Use this field to record at which facility (treatment plant, airport, etc,) the item is located
replacement-cost currency Use to record the replacement cost of an item
residual-value currency Use to record an items residual value
rul float Use to record an item's remaining useful life
start float Use to record the start chainage of a network asset segment in metres
subdivision text Use to record the subdivision (if any) that the item was originally part of
to text Use to describe the end point of a network asset segment
unit-rate-code text Use to look up unit rates for revaluing items
url text Use to provide a link to a web page about the item
usage-rate float Use this field to record how much an item is being used - e.g. vehicles per day or litres per second
width float Use this field to record an items width or diameter
zone text Use to specify the zone in which an item is located

Considerations

A generic assets table should obviously contain a sufficient fields to cater for known reporting requirements, and data lodgement standards, such as those listed below.
