Armidale Dumaresq Council

The Armidale Dumaresq Council was formed from the merger in 2000 of the original City of Armidale with the surrounding Dumaresq Shire. The combined area covered the urban area of Armidale and the surrounding region, extending primarily eastward from the city through farming districts to the gorges and escarpments that mark the edge of the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales. The Council had a population of 24,533 and covered an area of 4235 kmĀ²

On 12 May 2016 Armidale Dumaresq Council was merged with Guyra Shire Council to form Armidale Regional Council.
