Atherton Tablelands Geographic Information Services

Atherton Tablelands Geographic Information Services (ATGIS) was a functional unit of the Tablelands Regional Council. ATGIS provided world class geographic information solutions to Local Governments and also to State Government, Community and Industry organisations.

  • Northern Queensland Wildfire Mitigation Project
  • Tablelands Regional Council Public Map Interface: http://maps.trc.qld.gov.au
  • Lake Tinaroo Tourist Map - large format hardcopy map available at Information Centres, newsagents and tackle shops in Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands

Recent awards included:

  • 2013 GITA Excellence Award - for our part in a Tablelands Regional Council Local Disaster Management Group 'Disaster Resilient Communications project', mapping radio propagation and identifying resilient communication pathways post-disaster
  • 2013 Queensland Spatial Excellence Award - Export Category - for our part in the YUS Conservation Area Tree Kangaroo Conservation Program, producing a hardcopy conservation zoning map (PNG)
  • 2013 Queensland Spatial Excellence Award - Environment and Sustainability Category - for our part in the YUS Conservation Area Tree Kangaroo Conservation Program, producing a hardcopy conservation zoning map (PNG)
  • 2014 Queensland Spatial Excellence Award - Small Project Category - for QUBE Logistics customised EasyFind sugar harvest haulage road and street directory.

In 2014, Alistair left ATGIS to establish Mangoesmapping, a private company offering a similar range of services, initially to regional, rural and remote local governments and subsequently to a wide range of government and industry clients, while retaining deep expertise in Local Government. See link to Mangoesmapping below. Within a few months of Alistair leaving, ATGIS ceased to offer commercial services.
