Bridge Cleaning

Bridge Cleaning is the cleaning and clearing of the bridge deck, footway, expansion joints, scuppers and downpipes.

Bridges may need to be cleaned if an accumulation of material (e.g. dirt, vegetation or loose aggregate) causes interruption to the escape of drainage water, or the operation of expansion joints.

Local Councils are typically responsible for the cleaning of and any other maintenance associated with bridges forming part of the local road network.
