Bridge Hierarchy

A Bridge Hierarchy is a scheme for categorising bridges into groups that are treated similarly.

There are a many ways to structure a bridge hierarchy, including:

  • a flat hierarchy, where all bridges are treated the same.
  • a hierarchy based on bridge type.
  • a hierarchy based on the hierarchy of the road or facility in which the bridge is located.
  • a hierarchy based on the size and/or importance of the bridge.
