Building Quality Control
Building Quality Control - Councils are responsible for ensuring that buildings erected within the municipality are constructed in accordance with regulations and to a suitable standard.
Victorian Building Act 1993
Part 12, Division 5 of the Victorian Building Act 1993 sets out the role of Councils with respect to the administration of building provisions within a municipal district.
Section 212 (1) of the Act notes that "except where otherwise expressly provided in this Act or the building regulations, a council is responsible for the administration and enforcement of Parts 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 and the building regulations in its municipal district."
