Cardinia Shire Council is located south-east of Melbourne between the Western Port bay and the Yarra Ranges on the outskirts of Melbourne in Victoria. It covers an area of 1,281 square kilometres, and at the 2006 census it had a population of 57,115. The council offices are located in Pakenham.
