A Children's Services Centre is a facility from which children's services are delivered.
Victoria
In Victoria the legislation covering Children's Services Centre is the Children’s Services Centres Regulations 1988.
The regulations define two types of Children's Services Centres:
A "children's services centre Class 1" is a registered children's services centre—
(a) at which children under the age of 6 years may be cared for, educated or minded for a period no longer than 12 hours per day; or
(b) at which a pre-school, kindergarten or pre-school play centre is carried on by a proprietor who receives a pre-school subsidy from the Department of Community Services.
A "children's services centre Class 2" is a registered children's services centre at which no child may be cared for, educated or
minded for more than 3 hours per day and no more than 10 hours per week but does not include a centre at which a pre-school,
kindergarten or pre-school play centre is carried on by a proprietor who receives a pre-school subsidy from the Department of
Community Services.
