Conduit
A Conduit is variously a:
- A pipe or channel for conveying water fluids;
- A duct or tube into which electrical cables may be pulled;
- A means by which something is transmitted.

In the local government context the second definition is probably the most commonly used. In particular the term is often used to describe a pipe laid under and across a road, to either help protect a cable or enable a cable to cross the road a future point in time with out damaging the road surface.
