Digital Data Specification

A Digital Data Specification is a document that specifies the format in which digital data should be provided.

A common local government example might be the format in which asset condition data is to be provided to a Council by a contractor hired to collect it.

It may specify such things as:

  • field names & field lengths
  • allowable values
  • variable types
  • accuracy requirements
