A discharge point is the point at which the responsibilty for a liquid passes from one entity to another.

A Legal Point of Discharge is the point specified by a Council as the stormwater outlet point for an individual property.
Legal points of discharge vary in nature and may include:
- a Council stormwater pipe or stormwater pit;
- kerb and channel (with an approved kerb adaptor);
- a table drain or swale drain;
- a major drain operated by another drainage authority (e.g. Melbourne Water).
