Glass

Glass is an amorphous (non-crystalline) solid material. Glasses are typically brittle and optically transparent.

The most familiar type of glass, used for centuries in windows and drinking vessels, is soda-lime glass, composed of about 75% silica (SiO2) plus Na2O, CaO, and several minor additives.

A number of Councils are trialling the use of recycled crushed glass as a pavement material.

Lismore City Council

Lismore City Council is using crushed glass to build road bases, for backfill material, and as bedding for water pipes.4
