Glassphalt

Glassphalt is a type of asphalt in which recycled crushed glass is incorporated into the mix.

In July 2018 a trial of an asphalt mix containing recycled crushed glass, plastic bags and printer toner was undertaken in Rayfield Avenue, Craigieburn, in Hume City Council.5 The aim of the trial is to prove that the use of recycled material in road construction is economically viable as well as environmentally responsible.

Close the Loop and Downer the companies that have jointly developed the asphalt claim that it will last up to 65% longer than traditional asphalt.
