GPS Camera

A GPS Camera is a camera with a built in GPS receiver that automatically embeds GPS coordinates within captured images. This process is known as Geotagging.

Models

The following camera models are being or have been used by Councils.

GPS cameras are being further developed with more functionality. The Panasonic Lumix TS3 list the following built in features.

Alternatives

  1. Many mobile phones now have built in cameras with the ability to geotag photos.
  2. A number of Councils are using Eye-Fi in conjunction with ordinary cameras
  3. Trimble have a system called Trimpix Pro that links an non-GPS camera to a Trimble Windows Mobile handheld device.
