Grounds
The term grounds can mean an area of land designated for a particular purpose or a the relatively unimproved areas within a facility.
Thinking of a facility's grounds as an asset, may have a number of advantages.
- If maintenance is scheduled at the asset level, tasks like mowing can be scheduled against the grounds.
- If minor items located at a facility (e.g. bins, minor park furniture, gardens, signs, sprinklers, etc.) are not obviously part of a larger asset, they can be treated as components of the grounds.
If your council has an alternate definition for the term grounds or has what you believe to be a better way of handling minor items located at a facility, please add some information to this page, or leave a comment by clicking the "Discuss" button below.
