Hydro Excavation

Hydro excavation also described as suction or vacuum excavation uses high pressure water to loosen the soil in preparation for its removal by a specially designed vacuuming device. This method is space efficient and therefore suitable for areas that are difficult to access with conventional excavation machinery.

A benefit of this excavation process is that it is described as being safer for both the workers involved in the excavation process and for the infrastructure to be excavated.

One of the disadvantages of this method is that the soil thus removed cannot be re-used as backfill and is carted away for disposal.
