Immunisation Service

Many Councils provide an immunisation service to their residents.

Diseases that may be immunised against include:

  • Poliomyelitis
  • Measles/Mumps/Rubella,
  • Diphtheria
  • Tetanus
  • Whooping Cough,
  • Haemophilus Influenza type B (HIB)
  • Rotavirus
  • Pnuemococcal
  • Varicella (chicken pox)
  • Human Papillomas Virus (HPV)

Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008

Section 24 (f) of the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 notes that councils are responsible for co-ordinating and providing immunisation services to children living or being educated within the municipal district.
