Latrobe Council is located on the central north coast of Tasmania. It covers an area of 550 km² and contains the townships of Latrobe, Port Sorell, Shearwater, Hawley Beach, Wesley Vale, Sassafras, Moriarty and Tarleton. In 2006 it had a population of 8,888.
