A Municipal Emergency Planning Committee is a committe appointed by a Council under Section 21C of the Victorian Emergency Management Act 1986.

The committee must consist of; members and employees of a municipal council, response and recovery agencies and local community groups involved in emergency management issues.

The municipal emergency planning committee is responsible for the preparation of a draft municipal emergency management plan and must give effect to any direction or guidelines issued by the Minister.
