Northern Midlands Council is located in the northern part of the central midlands agricultural area of Tasmania. It covers and area of 5130 km² and encompasses the towns of Avoca, Campbell Town, Cressy, Evandale, Liffey, Longford, and Perth. In 2006 it had a population of 12,505.
