Otta Seal

An Otta Seal is a type of bituminous surface treatment formed by adding graded aggregate to a soft bituminous binding agent.

The Otta Seal which was developed by the Norwegian Road Research Laboratory is best suited to roads with low traffic volumes.

As the photo below shows, the stone used in an otta seal is much more variable in size than the aggregate used in a standard spray seal.
