Pavement Surfacing

Pavement Surfacing (also wearing surface and wearing course) is the topmost layer of a road pavement.

Data Standard for Road Management and Investment in Australia and New Zealand

Section 8.3.15 of the Data Standard for Road Management and Investment in Australia and New Zealand V2 defines the 'pavement surfacing' as the part of the pavement upon which the traffic travels, that is specifically designed to resist abrasion from traffic and to minimise the entry of water.
