Policy Development Framework

A Policy Development Framework is a documented methodology for developing, reviewing and modifying polices.

The framework may include information about:

  • When a policy should be developed or reviewed,
  • What sort of information should be included in a policy,
  • Policy templates.

LGAM Policy Development Framework

  • Identify barriers to the realisation of your vision.
  • Brainstorm a list of ideas for breaking down those barriers.
  • Publish the ideas and ask for comment, explicitly inviting people to give feedback on why the ideas may not work and how they can be improved.
  • If appropriate, modify the ideas based on the feedback received and get policy stakeholders to vote on the ideas.
  • Where there is wide agreement on the value of an idea enshrine it in policy.
