Queensland Local Government Act 2009
The Queensland Local Government Act 2009 is one of a number of Acts & Regulations relevant to a Council's day to day operations, it is to take effect from 1 July 2010.
Regulations
Three regulations have been developed which will commence with the Act. This enables Councils to undertake their activities and establish the framework upon which it must operate. These are:
- Local Government (Beneficial Enterprises and Business Activities) Regulation
- Approval processes for Beneficial enterprises
- National Competition Policy application to business activities
- Competitive neutrality
- Local Government (Finance, Plans and Reporting) Regulation
- Community planning
- Rates and charges
- Financial accounts, documents, policies
- Contracts
- Local Government (Operations) Regulation
- Local Government areas, classifications
- Committees and meeting procedures
- Local Laws
