Secondment

A secondment is the temporary transfer of an official or worker to another position or employment.

There are a number of advantages to inter-council staff secondments including:

• the development of the officer concerned and the additional expertise and understanding which is brought into the Council at the conclusion of the secondment;
• the creation of useful contacts and the basis of future “networking” opportunities between councils.
