Service Centre

A Service Centre is a location from which services are delivered. In the local government context, municipalities particularly those covering a large physical area will often provide one or more service centres in addition to their main council office so that residents don't have to travel large distances to access council services.

Often following a council amalgamation one or more of the former council offices will be re-purposed as a service centre.

Bundaberg Regional Council for example operates three service centres (out of former Council offices) in addition to the main administration centre in Bundaberg, namely; the Childers Service Centre, the Gin Gin Service Centre and the Bargara Service Centre.
