A street light is a light source located adjacent to and/or above a road or walkway, which is automatically turned on during the night to provide illumination for both motorists and pedestrians.

Useful Life

The useful life of a street light will vary considerably depending on a range of environmental factors.

The table below shows the useful life for traffic signs adopted by Councils or published elsewhere. At the moment a useful life of about 30 years seems to be typical. Please feel free to add your Councils information below.
