A SWOT Analysis is a strategic planning tool that lists an entity's strengths and weaknesses, and identifies opportunities for and threats to the entity.

Strengths are characteristics of an entity that will help it achieve its stated objectives.
Weaknesses are characteristics of an entity that make it more difficult for it to achieve its stated objectives.
Opportunities are external factors that if harnessed could make it easier for an entity to achieve its stated objectives.
Threats are external factors that could reduce the likelihood of an entity achieving its stated objectives.
