Value
The term value has several meanings all of which are used in local government to some degree.
- The quality (positive or negative) that renders something desirable or valuable.
- The degree of importance given to something.
- The amount (of money or goods or services) that is considered to be a fair equivalent for something else.
Asset Values
Councils are required to know the value of their assets and to account for them appropriately.
Organisational Values
Many Councils have defined a set of organisational or staff values. Whittlesea City Council for example has the following staff values:
